HI Cassey,
Thanks for posting the short videos. I love them. I spent some time exploring your website after seeing your videos on utube. You have some good stuff on your website but I didn't find anywhere the benefits of pilates. Could you please post some benefits. Thanks.

Great question. Get Fit Guy has a great podcast on what Pilates is and you can listen to it here: http://getfitguy.quickanddirtytips.com/what-is-pilates.aspx

Pilates is a workout that really focuses on strengthening your core and aligning your spine for better posture while integrating the breath, mind-body concentration, and flow. All this will help you achieve longer and leaner muscles. This is a great question and would make for a wonderful blog post. For now, listen to that podcast and watch out for my next post on the benefits of Pilates. Thank you!

Hi! First, I absolutley love your videos!
But, I'm wondering what you think of the 30 day shred? I just started and I'm on my 5th day. Can I do this along with your pop pilates?

I have never done the 30 Day Shred but if you have enough strength, I’d say sure, go for it as long as you can maintain proper form!

I really want to come to one of your classes, because we are in Boston area for vacation, and it would be a great chance to meet you and all. I was telling my daughter about it, and she was wondering if she can come as well. The only thing is that she is 12 years old. Do you think that Wednesday's Mat-based Pilates would be too tough for her? And is it going to be a total body workout? For example, what do we do in your classes? I mean lately she has been doing your pop pilates workouts on youtube, and she is really enjoying them. sorry for the late notice, but it would be great if you could answer before tomorrow's lesson, so that I can make an appropriate choice for my daughter. Thanks for all you do.

Wow that’s great! Who are you visiting in Boston? I think she can come - we always do modifications so it will be ok. Yes it will be a total body workout, so if you guys do my videos you’ll be in tip top shape. Because I have the full hr there will be stretches in between (something that does not happen in my short 10 min vids!). I hope to see you and your daughter tomorrow! Excited!

HI, It's Mads, Ollie, Ali and Kelly again from the UK :)

Just wanted to let you know we had a Pop Pilates party for health and fitness week with our fellow students doing Pop Pilates in the sports hall on campus! 55 people doing 'Craz Core', 'Body Slimming' and 'Stretching.' It was sooooo much fun and everybody had a good time! Can't wait for your next videos!

Much love from the UK oxoxoxo

hey cassey, im having trouble finding an answer to a certain question, ive been looking everywhere! is it alright to do cardio before eating breakfast? i dont want to build up muscle, i just want to be lean and somewhat toned. thanks a lot :)

Yes you can do cardio before eating breakfast. A long as you feel like you’re not getting fatigued then you’re fine. I personally like to eat a lil tiny something just to get me all started before I go for my run.

Here’s my pop cardio video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-wEz5XZwgY

hey.
first of all, you're a godness, I just LOVE your videos and everything.
My question is: I do like 4 videos two times a week. Four times a week I do my own work out rutine (Situps and stuff... always like 45 minutes). And at least 6 times a week I do at least 30 minutes (most of the time 40 minutes) of cardio. Well do you think that's enough working out?

Thank you! That sounds like a great routine. Keep doing it!

Hey Cassey! I'm Ciara, sixteen, from Northern Ireland. I've been loving your videos since January, but now my mum is interested in them to help her lose weight. The only thing is she's 5'8" and 275lbs. My parents are both starting to improve their diets which will help a lot, but they need something that won't be ridiculously strenuous but can still give them a good workout. I'd love it if you could either give me some advice on some exercises they can do, or make a new pilates video that'd be for beginners or something, it'd be fantastic!

Thank you very much, and I'm loving what you do!

Hi Ciara! (Like the singer!) I will make a video for beginners. It may be tough for her to do the current pop pilates videos as they are quite advanced. Have her begin with walking everyday. Then jog. Try typing in beginner pilates in youtube. But yeah, promise I will do one for your mom ok!?

Hi Cassey!
Just letting you know that you're awesome. And I love everyone of your videos, and I get such a buzz doing a new one, it makes my day! So I was wondering if you could give me a hint on whats coming up next? What are your ideas for the next coupe of videos? Pleaseeeeeeeeee?

Here’s what the line up looks like, but in no particular order:

arms/upper body, total core/abs, lower abs/belly pooch, pop cardio, food bites, standing abs…something along those lines!

Hey Cassey, I'm looking into cuter workout clothes for when the weather gets warmer and I can finally exercise outside. I've heard a lot about Victoria's Secret's Foldover Yoga Pants and I saw that you love the leggings. The only problem with trying those out is that I'll have to order online and I've never ordered clothes from VS before. Plus shipping is a killer for VS so if it doesn't fit, I'll have to ship it back and I'm unfortunately a poor college student. So I was wondering if you feel/know whether or not the sizings are true-to-size or not. It'll be a great help from your own experience and I trust your assessment. Thanks and I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather on the West Coast! Can't wait until you get back and have new workouts =D

Hey there!!! VS now has a return in store program. Remember that the sizes are missy not junior, so I order smaller than my normal size. Unless you go with PINK, then maybe you can order your normal size. I know, shipping is killer. I always wait for a coupon. Retailmenot.com is a great site for coupon deals. Show me which pants you’re thinking of and I can tell you how it fits. Like the capris I posted are weird - the black/black ones are looser than the colored bands ones. It’s like a diff fabric.

hey cassey!!:D
i''m glad i found your tumblr, i love your videos and
I really apreciate all the great work you're doing!
Also, i have a question: do you think i can do 1 hour of viniyasa/power yoga instead of cardio? According to healthstatus.com, i urn 400 calories in 1 hour of ashtanga yoga,so i wonder if vigorous yoga can replace a cardio workout, since sun salutations get heart rate up ?

Hi there! Great question. A lot of times we get stuck in this mode of calorie counting and forget the other benefits of exercise. This is a huge debate. I won’t take sides, but I would say in my PERSONAL opinion, I wouldn’t replace cardio completely with yoga. I’d complement my workout with yoga. Also, your end goal has a lot to do with what you choose to do. Are you training for a marathon? Then obviously you can’t replace yoga for cardio. If you’re looking to lose weight, whatever you enjoy better may be the better answer for you.

Here’s a great article for more detail on the subject:

hello cassey , ive registered the http://caloriecount.about.com but the thing is i dont know how to calculate the calories that i consumed for that day. is there any website that is much easier. thanks

If you have an iphone, I really love MyNetDiary, Lose It!, or MyFitnessPal. You can log as you eat right at the table! But here are the web versions:

http://www.mynetdiary.com/

http://loseit.com/

http://www.myfitnesspal.com/

They are all great! I ended up using mynetdiary for a while, but all are very similar.

Hi Cassey ! I have started eating healthy for a while now and lately I have this weird feeling of dizziness, my head hurts and my mouth tastes a bit weird. Do you think it has something to do with my eating? Thank you

Seems like you’ve got ketosis. It’s kinda like a body flush of bad toxins when you change your diet drastically. Esp. if you are on a low carb diet.

“Ketosis the name for a state many people go through when starting a low-carbohydrate diet. In involves a loss of fat and it happens because, in the absence of sugar, the body breaks down fat to use as fuel. This fuel is known as ketones, and the process of creating ketones in the liver and the body’s use of them is called ketosis. “

The symptoms include:

Some ketosis symptoms include:

  • Tiredness or fatigue
  • Headache
  • Feeling thirsty all the time
  • Bad breath
  • Metallic taste in the mouth
  • Weakness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea or stomach ache
  • Sleep problems
  • Cold hands and feet

Here’s a great website to read more on your symptoms and what you can do:

Hi Cassey!

Just to say I LOVE your vids and blog but I have a question- hope you don't mind!

So you were ill recently and I also have a very heavy cold and I've lost my voice! I just wanted to know what should I look to eat when ill or run down because sometimes it's difficult because you don't know what you want to eat but you know you need to!

Hey! I just recently lost my voice too. It was gone for like 5 days. Literally, there is nothing you can do to make it come back except for letting your vocal chords by NOT TALKING. Not even whispering! But if you have a sore throat hot liquids like tea and soups are good.

As far as eating goes, your body is gonna want different things when you’re sick. I kinda went off my normal meals and added more carbs and things I normally wouldn’t eat. In moderation of course. It helped satisfy my taste buds since not a lot tastes great when you’re sick. Don’t worry TOO MUCH about your diet when ill - just don’t take it as a junk food opportunity. Let your body rest and heal and drink TONS OF FLUIDS!!! TONS OF WATER is my best advice. You’ll keep peeing, but the hydration is essential for a swift recovery.
