Today’s video is on how to set goals that you can actually follow through with. New year’s is just around the corner and I know a bunch of us want to achieve a million things for 2012. That’s great! January also means my classes at the gym will get all filled up again! My fave time of the year. Everyone’s excited, motivated, and ready to rock it out. This also means all the cardio machines will be taken (with lines), but whatever, I love the energy!
Here are some guidelines for successful goal setting!
Make 1 attainable goal
Make 1 outrageous (but doable) goal
Write them down, hang it up, and look at it everyday
Want to achieve your goals BADLY
I explain in further detail why this combination works in the video above! Basically, 1 & 2 allows you to conquer quickly but not sell yourself short. 3 & 4 keeps you focused with the will to achieve burning deep inside.
Also!!!! To help get you all fired up for the new year, I want to announce my first everoGorgeous bag giveaway! It’s just for you POPsters!

Love you guys! Have fun shopping sales and get ready for the most awesome POP Cardio Dance vid evvverrrr!!! Thank you for your suggestions. As always, you guys help create your own fitness videos. Cool to see your requests come alive huh?
Wow, what a lame title. I basically jut told you EXACTLY what I am going to talk about with little left to the imagination! OK will work on this.
Today I woke up SUPER late because I stayed up til 5am yesterday editing photos of my bags. Ugh. I want to get these up ASAP so that you guys can see my babies! I plan to have the oGorgeous.com and Flomme.com websites up and running with new product next week!!!
I started off my day with a vegetarian soy breakfast patty and egg white omelet with Enoki mushrooms. I got the breakfast patty mix courtesy of Harmony Valley and was so surprised at how quick and tasty it was. All you literally have to do is pour the dry soy chunks into a bowl, mix with some water and then fry it on your pan. It really tasted like a McDonald’s breakfast patty! SO GOOD.
A little more sodium than I would like, but then again, I don’t eat that much sodium overall, so we’re good here! Lots of protein and very little sugar and carbs. Nice treat and something new to try for my Thursday morning.
Lookie what I made! It was so super delish. I topped my omelet off with some chunky mango salsa. YUM! (I don’t know why the background is blue…)
Do you want a bite? I bet you do! Well, fine, I’ll give you a chance!
CONTEST ALERT!!! Comment below and tell me what you would make if you got a pack of this soy sausage style mix or soy hamburger style mix. Most creative recipe idea wins. I will pick 5 winners and will announce on Monday’s post! You can enter multiple times if you keep exploding with new ideas over the weekend. This contest is only open to residents of the US or Puerto Rico…sorry international POPsters, next time
After a ton of work, I got ready to go to the Aerie trunk show in downtown SF. I am a fan of Aerie workout wear so was invited to see their holiday collection. I ended up buying a few things! Here’s what I got.
I really like the clusters of jewels for my earrings – the navy, gray, and diamond work really well together. I got the ring for my sister. She’s a ring fanatic.
Pretty long necklaces to dress up a plain shirt or simple dress! A little sparkle for the holiday season! Which do you like better?
Ahh, now this bra. I have been looking for a secure strapless bra for the LONGEST time. For some reason the Victoria Secret bras don’t fit me so well. They’re cute so I have a ton in every style but I just need to accept the fact that they are not for me. I think Aerie is my new goto store for bras. Perhaps because they are more junior-oriented. The Abigail fit like OMG. Yes it fit like OMG. The strapless bra stuck on me and gave me oomph! This has never happened to me before before. Very happy right now and can’t wait to wear it!
One thing I really wanted to get but didn’t see was the Aerie Low Impact Sports bra. The store didn’t have any. Super sad because I think it would have looked cute in a POP Pilates vid! I like the flowers and the fact that’s a crop top sports bra. So girly and sporty. So Cassey!
This Sunday I am running the Men’s Health Urbanathalon with Sarah Dussault fromSarahfit.com. She’s coming to SF tomorrow. I haven’t seen her since my last meal in Boston a few months ago so pretty excited to catch up! If you guys have been following us on YouTube you’ve probably seen our diet.com Pilates vids together. Here’s one of our ab videos from back in the day:
Anyway…better get to bed soon. I have a Powerflex class to teach tomorrow err…today and a shoot with a friend for the Flomme men’s yoga bag collection. Busy days ahead!
Don’t forget to enter the Harmony Valley veggie patty contest and tell me your most creative recipe idea below! Craziest and yummiest sounding entry wins a pack of the mix. 5 winners so start commenting! I’m waiting!!??
My mom and I just made this cute little wristlet. We handcut the flowers and leaves. Look familiar?
Yes it is the same floral decor as on the Enchanted Mat Sling in my oGorgeous sling collection. We were about to donate the purse but then decided to gather up some left over leathers and have a crafts night. This is what I call fashion recycling!
I think I only posted this on Facebook…so woopsies, here’s a shoutout to my tumblr bloggy friends! New “Muffin Tops are for Muffins Only” tanks and TEES are in. Yay for those of us in cold places. Darker shades too. $18. Free shipping US and add $5 intl. See other colors here.
Just wanted to say thank you for reading my blog and doing POP Pilates. It means a lot to me knowing that there’s a strong community here looking to get fit healthily and that we’re all doing it together. The comments you guys left me in response to the “Feeling Fat and Failing” post made me realize how similar we all really are. It touched me to hear that the article brought some of you to tears because it described exactly how you feel on crappy days too. I guess I will now blog more about my personal experiences in addition to the researchy type stuff I look up. Thank you x a million for your feedback and your love. We’re in this together!
Good morning from Guangzhou! Quick post. Went to one of the BIGGEST McDonald’s yesterday at the Canton Fair. (Sorry, it had to be a REALLY fast meal and the only other option was Pizza Hut…)
I was delighted to find this purple box in my brown baggy and of course being the adventurous eater that I am, dove right into my treat.
Creamy, bright lavender taro chunks inside and crunchy toasted crust outside. To my surprise, it was so amazing. I am going to try to find a way to make a Cassey health freak version of this when I get home. I was happy to see that even Chinese McDonalds will post the nutrition facts on their foods. Obviously not a healthy dessert here at all, but you know what, it was pleasurable on the taste buds :) And how could I NOT try it!!??
Have you guys ever cooked with taro? It is big in Chinese cooking. It’s like a potato. Tons of carbs for energy, a good amount of fiber, and no fat.
For one serving of taro, cooked (132g) its: 187 cals, 0g fat, 46g carbs, 7g fiber, 1g protein.
Now, note to the person who messaged me about the food buzz ads and how they are showing pics of cookies and dressings. Hahaha. You made me laugh. I can’t control what KINDS of food they show, but it seems to me that a discussion needs to happen with food buzz. I’ll contact them, thanks.
Note to the people who wrote me about fair labor at the factories. Thank you. I am very conscious about this and care deeply. I am actually physically visiting the factories later this week. So no worries. I will make sure that my beliefs, your beliefs, and the things I design are all made mindfully and with the best practice.
Finally, note to everyone else who is reading about my trip overseas and my business. Is there anything you wish I could make? Like super fashionable blogilates aprons or cute reusable bags or yoga mats or whatever else? Please message or comment with ideas!!! I am here only for a few more days, so if you think it’d be awesome if we could have food rings or yoga mat necklaces, PILE ON THE IDEAS!!!!! We can make it happen. Just let me know!!!
Oh yeah, and the Muffin tops are for muffins only shirts are finishing up on Monday!!! Ready for their debut next week. I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You’re gonna DIE after seeing how cute they are! Lemme know if you want one!
Ok off to day 2 at the Canton Fair. Looking to be inspired.
Hey guys! So I’m on the train from Hong Kong to Southern China right now. It is a 1 hr 40 min ride from Kowloon to Guangzhou where I will be walking the Canton Fair to find manufacturers for my yoga bags and gym bags.
Yesterday was travel mania. 20 hours from Boston to Hong Kong. Wasn’t that bad though actually. In my 1 hr layover in Chicago, I did the following and you’re gonna think I’m nutso!
Set 1: 20 pushups, 20 tricep dips, 20 burpees
Set 2: 20 pushups (feet on airport chair), 20 tricep dips, 20 burpees
Set 3: 20 push ups (hands on airport chair), 20 tricep dips, 20 burpees
I got some work done and I also did a movie marathon on the plane. I actually really enjoyed Country Strong with Gwenyth Paltrow , Tim McGraw, and Leighton Meester, Gulliver’s Travels with Jack Black, and The Tourist with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. Country Strong made me cry. OMG, I never get emotional during movies but it was so good!!! I also bothered my seatmates a ton. Let’s just say I stayed very well hydrated. I’m sure they hated me by the end of the trip.
When I got in, it was straight to work. Met with the CEO of a high end international brand (thanks Whittier College, go Poets!), discussed my trip purpose and my samples. Got to touch and feel my prototypes and make revisions for pre-production round #2. The men’s bags look awesome! Almost no revisions. The women’s gym bags were GORGEOUS! I almost died. The women’s yoga bags have been taken to the next level. Couldn’t be happier. My goal on this trip is to find the right fabrications for the bags so that production can start asap. (Will be taking tons of fabric market trip pics!)
After our meeting, I toured Hong Kong Harbor, a bit of downtown, and ate some gelato while at it. It was quite humid, but not as bad as last summer in Boston, Things weren’t as cheap as I thought they’d be. $1 USD = $7.08 HKD. My gelato was $35. That’s 5 bucks. I couldn’t resist my passion fruit & guava topped with banana & strawberry. (Oops sorry no pic, I ate it way too fast!) It was heavenly.
The city seemed the same to me as any other bustling square. You’ve got your H&M’s, your Coach stores, and your Pradas sprinkled with some foreign chains (in this case, a lot of tea shops). The similarity between last night’s city and New York City turned me off. I didn’t buy anything. I want open street markets and night fairs. Unique finds and bargaining opps. Inspiration in the unlikeliest places. Now, that gets me high. China awaits.
I am approaching Guangzhou now with only 10 minutes left on my train ride. I will be meeting with my friend who owns a shoe company. After we settle in at our hotel we’ll meet with our interpreters and head off to venture the tradeshow. I hope to find manufacturers who will give me a good price for making my bags while staying true to my original designs. My stuff is always a little on the “complicated” side because I love to actually DESIGN. I don’t just want to make another gym bag. It’s gotta be something you’ve never seem before – something that will WOW you. Otherwise, what’s the point of bringing in something boring into the world? That’s where attention to detail is key.
This is my first time traveling overseas by myself and I am quite calm. It’s not as culture shocking as I thought it would be. Well, maybe that’s because I haven’t hit China just yet where there will practically be no English-Speaking. Okay, off the train. It’s Miss Teen Chinatown 2003’s first trip to China! (These little secrets may pop up once in a while…)
So yesterday I bought a ticket to Hong Kong and China and will be leaving in just 2 days! Crazy huh? I am going to the Canton Fair which is one of the world’s LARGEST trade shows. I’ll be meeting with manufacturers, suppliers, and all sorts of people that can help me take my yoga bags to the next level. Maybe I’ll even add clothes and jewelry…By the way, I know I haven’t been talking about oGorgeous a lot, but for those of you waiting to get the Pleated Pocket yoga bag in SHAPE magazine, it’s coming, promise.
The flight there is around 22 hours and I think I’m gonna go nuts. The longest I’ve ever been on a plane is 14 hours to Vietnam. That was torture. You know, even flying back home to California is torture too and that’s only 6 hours. The worst part is that I’ve got middle seats. Congrats to me for booking last minute. Sigh. I’ll need to figure out a way to either completely knock out or keep myself busy. Ha, this reminds me of a question I once got from someone asking for workouts in their airplane seat. Now that’s got me seriously wondering…
I’m also worried about another thing while on this 8 day trip. Working out and eating right. Please don’t think I’m a ridiculous health freak or something but seriously, exercising and eating well make me happy and energetic. (That’s how I stay so peppy in the vids.) I like being in tune with my body and after just a day or 2 of not hitting the gym, I get extremely antsy.
Also, I know I’ll want to TASTE EVERYTHING, and Chinese food aint exactly healthy. Knowing that I have the capacity to eat like Adam Richman from Man vs. Food, this could get dangerous. My personal challenge during this trip is allow myself to try all but not go crazy volume-wise. I will also promise to workout everyday even if it is just for 20 minutes. Even if I can’t access a gym, a good hotel room workout will do too. I was actually thinking of filming a POP Pilates hotel room workout for those of you traveling this summer. What do you think?
I’m also gonna miss teaching so many classes this coming week! Sorry students of mine. I always feel bad when I have to leave my classes to a sub, but love ya and we’ll get back together soon. Keep pushing yourself HARD. CORE. Better not see any slacking when I get back!
As the title of this post proclaims, I will still blog but won’t be updating my facebook fan page once I’m in China (it’s banned). I’ll let you guys know when I reach Hong Kong, but that will be it for facebook! Read up on my blog for pics and things…I’m gonna try to get a shot of fried insects! I won’t eat it but that’s another mini side goal of mine. Haha.
Okay well I hope to be fully inspired and globally cultured when I return. I will allow myself to be 100% immersed in a completely different way of life. Never got to study abroad so this will be my first time traveling overseas by myself. I hear I’m gonna have a blast ;)
My gym locker: jean jacket, scarf, lifting gloves, jewel studded ear phones, big bottle of water, and of course my oGorgeous yoga bag! Thought the colors looked quite soothing so I stepped back and pulled out the iPhone.
