Fitness Fashion Friday!
Item: Beckons Love lace Up Halter from Asana Green
Price: $45.00
I LOVE this top! I first saw it in a facebook ad when I was checking my fanpage and immediately contacted Asana Green about doing a review. That was a while ago, and I feel bad for posting this review so late, but here it is nonetheless!
FASHION: Love the red lace up detail in the back. Not only does it add some sexiness to the top, the red color creates a gorgeous contrast! The halter is flattering and the low back makes it elegant and ballet-like. Crop tops are in too! Oh and did I mention that it is reversible?
FIT: This was very comfortable. I am wearing a small. The top comes in XS to Large. But there’s no need to really worry if it will be too tight because of the criss cross detailing in the back!
FABRIC: Eco-friendly!! 92% organic cotton, 8% lycra. Aqua on one side, black on the other.
FEEL: Soft, breathable.
This top also comes in white! I paired it with some roll-down yoga capris from Victoria’s Secret. Also perfect if paired with some booty shorts for hot yoga don’t you think?
Hope you like! You can check out the other colors and sizes at the earth-friendly Asana Green store right here.

Missoni for Target! Were you caught in the craze?
So apparently yesterday when Target launched it’s collab with Missoni, the website CRASHED. The items were sold out in a matter of hours. People started selling throws that costed $40 for over $200 on ebay. That bike right there was being sold on Craigslist for $1500 when originally it was 4x less!! The zigzag pattern is Missoni’s signature statement pattern and people went gaga for it. This black friday like popularity never occurred for Rodarte, Thakoon, and Zac Posen.
Crazy! Did you end up getting anything? I want that bike.

I want this rug too.

And this skirt.

The romper is to die for.
Everything is sold out except for the romper. Go to the Target Website and see what you can still find. Hopefully they restock soon! I am amazed at this designer’s force in the fashion industry and their consumers. It is truly mesmerizing.

I Spy a Celeb Leaving the Gym

So after browsing through some celeb “after the gym” photos, I was inspired to make this video on celebrity fitness fashion. Check it out…my most recent obsession Kim Kardashian makes an “appearance” and so does SJP and Jessica Simpson.

See who wears black ALL THE TIME and who can’t even carry her own gym bag.

Happy Saturday! And I’m running the Disneyland Half Marathon tomorrow OMG!!!! AHHH!!!! I am so excited to be doing this with my sister who actually signed me up as a birthday present back in January. I am so pumped!!! I don’t have a time goal, I just don’t want to stop running. That’s all. That’s my only goal. And I WILL DO THIS.

A couple of you said you’d be running it too! If you see me, say hi, would love to meet you and take sweaty pics together!!!

Also, I still haven’t really made my Pocahontas costume yet (bad me), will work on it at the hotel tonight. It’s 2:15am and I am packing. I’m such a procrastinator like that. I’ll take pics and show you before I wear it on Sunday. OH! And I also plan on vlogging at certain points in the race with my iPhone. Not sure if that’s a smart idea. But also not sure if I will ever run a 1/2 marathon again, so I guess I’ll try documenting some parts if I don’t die first.

Anyway, enjoy your Saturday guys! Love you!!!!

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Workout Pants

Did a cool lil review video for some UpVibe pants I got that claimed to be one size fits all. Umm yahhh…right?

I tried them on a few of my friends (skinny, athletic, curvy) to see if they could live up to their tag. Watch to see what happens!

And I’m gonna say this in advance - BIG SORRY that the different body shapes and sizes may not look so dramatic on camera. But really I promise they were! You can see the pants here.

Also, sub my new Fashion of Fitness channel for workout fashion tips! Do you wanna see videos on most flattering gym clothes for girls of diff body types? Gym hair styles? I am thinking of making this like a healthy/beauty channel. Or at least I’ll try! Wanna hear your opinions.

<3 Cassey

PS - Thanks for all of your support on my post about POP Pilates and Eating Disorders. I love you guys so much. With each comment I read, I felt more warmness in our community. You mean so much to me! And I do everything for you!

HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! It’s POP Pilates HOT ABS!!!

Get ready to have the flattest abs of your life with music from Britney “I Wanna Go”, Casacada “San Francisco” and Lady Gaga “Edge of Glory”.

By the end you’ll wish that Gaga would just STOP SINGING for the life of you.

Also, in other news…one of my fave brands since I was in high school, BEBE just launched their newest BEBE SPORT Collection! I did a really cool 1 min vid talking about my fave looks from their new line. Because animal print is transitioning over from Spring to Fall, they decided to go cheetah, red cheetah actually, for August! What do you think? Too much? Or genius?

That’s all I have for you right now. If you want the printable to the POP Pilates HOT ABS workout, you can score it right here - just click on “CHEETAH” on the left hand side and you’ll see it in the banner.

Love you all! Sweat fashionably :P

Ok I made the 20/20 demo video for those of you that are unfamiliar with some of the moves. It’s uploading to YouTube right now. By the way is Tumblr being super slow for any of you?
So in the mean time, have you ever tried wearing bright fitness clothes and shoes together? I’m on this fruity sensation kick where I’m pairing all things deliciously colored. It actually started with my little sister who suggested I buy electric blue shoes from Nike. Honestly, I was scared. But you know what? Now I can’t get enough! I want everything in color!!! (See how it even looks good on an outfit with no blue!??)

The gym really doesn’t have any seasons so we can be as bold as we want whenever we want! Just don’t wear thong leotards with shiny spandex. Oh yes. I’ve seen that before. In the year 2011.
Anyway, my outfit in that pic is from NUX USA which you can find on ActivewearUSA.com. NUX makes everything seamless. The fabric is so soft and breathable it is amazing. You won’t find any thread or sewing on the sides of your shirt or shorts so there’s no weird imprinting on your skin. Interesting note for those of you who want to know more about fabric. The fabric comes in tubes instead of rolls so there is no need to cut both sides of a shirt. So just imagine taking a straw and cutting it in half. There’s your tube top!
When I put the magenta top on with the lime green shorts, I instantly felt like a SHAPE model. (You know how they always wear the brightest craziest things? Yea.) So naturally, had to do a lil photo sesh.
TOP: Y-Bra in Lilac Rose, small, $42
SHORTS: Lucid Boy Short in Limeade, small, $34

Expert Spotlight: Activewear Designer

I was on the Recipes for Gals in Figure and Bodybuilding facebook fanpage one day looking for new ways to use protein powder when I stumbled across someone talking about some cute fitness clothes they bought at Fit Activewear. I regularly scour the net for the latest in fitness fashion trends and I hadn’t heard of them yet, so I was excited to see what this was all about!

Turns out I had been missing out on EVEN MORE booty short opportunities. Dangit. How come it took me so long to find a line that offered something called the “mini fit short”!!??

HOT.

Anyway, I contacted them and ended up exchanging several very nice emails with the owner of the company, Zeudy Mars. What a cool name btw. She sent me a super cute assymetrical tank that I wore in my POP Pilates: Abominable Abdominals video and some shorts that will be making their 1st appearance at the end of this post.

Because I was so impressed with the fit and quality of the clothes and Zeudy’s entrepreneurial spirit, I wanted to share with you guys an inspirational interview I did with her on how it is possible to follow through with your childhood dreams and achieve success. Read on to get MOTIVATED!!!

Name: Zeudy Mars
Occupation: Founder and Designer at Fit Activewear

1. Hi Zeudy! Can you please give us a brief introduction of yourself and anything you want us to know about you before we start the interview?

I am the founder and designer of Fit Activewear, which is a stylish and versatile
Activewear line for women. I am happily married and I have what I consider
a big family! Yes, I have four children! Two step kids and two of my own. I am
an overly positive person and I believe that I am living my dream one day at a
time…. Oh and I am a proud Virgo!

2. What inspired you to start your own line of activewear?

After having my first baby I started going to the gym regularly. I realized that
I could not find Activewear that was chic, comfortable and of high quality….
I couldn’t believe it! I did tons of research and found a few lines however, I
was not 100% sold. At that point I saw a need for stylish and chic Activewear!
Clothes that you can wear to the gym, Pilates or everyday life! I am a busy
business owner and mom! I want to be comfortable but I don’t want to look like
I just rolled out of bed. For me, designing and sewing comes naturally. I started
sewing and designing at an early age, creating my first “activewear” line while in
high school for my gym pals. When I was in college I worked in the confection
of wedding dresses then later moved onto the creation of swimsuits. So, I
decided to put my 15 years of experience in the clothing business to work and Fit
Activewear was born.

3. Have you always known that you wanted to be a designer? (‘cuz I have!)

Yes! I have always loved to design, to sew and create fabulous things including
clothes. When I was 8 or 9 years old I used to make dresses for my dolls from my
old stockings. Now, when I look back I cannot believe I was able to sew at such
at early age. All I can tell you is that I was born with the designer gene.

4. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a female entrepreneur?

I am a very positive person and I don’t like to think of challenges or obstacles. But if I
dig really deep all I can think of is time! As a woman and mom of two small children
(ages 2 and 3.5) I have different responsibilities than a man would. So, I wish I had 40-
hour days! I proudly wear a lot of hats. Entrepreneur, wife, mom, housekeeper, you name it I do it!

4. Any advice you could give to girls who want to start their own business?

Believe in yourself and believe that you can do it. Follow your dreams and they
will become a reality. Surround yourself with like-minded people and do lots
of re-search about the line of business you are trying to start. You will have to
know a lot since you will be considered an expert.

5. Describe your line in 3 words!

Superior, comfortable, stylish

6. Now describe yourself in 3 words.

Fabulous, compassionate, believer

7. Obviously, you are a VERY fit person as we can see from your pictures! Your line of work meshes perfectly with your lifestyle…what do you eat daily to maintain such a lean figure? Can you give us a snapshot of your typical diet?

I try to eat 5-6 small meals through the day. I have to have my egg whites for breakfast every morning! 4 egg whites with 1/3cup of oatmeal or slice of wheat bread and a fruit. Then at mid morning I will have a protein shake with almonds. For lunch I eat ground turkey or chicken with a big salad, veggies or rice. Mid afternoon I will eat some Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with a fruit. Then for dinner I eat fish with wheat pasta, or veggies. I love sweets, I am a chocolate lover, so, I have sugar free chocolate Popsicles when I get cravings. Also I have a couple of cheat meals per week. Everything is ok in moderation right?

8. I also saw that you’re also a bikini competitor! *bows down in respect* How long have you been competing and what advice can you give to girls who want to enter their first contest?

I entered my first competition as a motivation to loose the last 10 pounds after
having two babies back to back. I hired a trainer; I picked and signed up for a
competition and four months later, April 2010, I was on stage! My second baby
was 8 months at that time! I was really proud of my accomplishment! I did
another competition six months later with my best friend that started competing
after she saw me on stage for the first time. She is now an IFBB Pro. For anyone
trying to enter a competition I will suggest to follow the same steps. Hiring
a trainer is key. They can be a great accountability partner. Make sure your
trainer is someone that is familiar with competitions. Listen to them and follow
through! I am in love with the fit lifestyle, the workouts but I don’t see myself competing again in the near future.

9. Name your biggest accomplishment and how you felt at that moment.

This is a hard one! I feel that I have accomplished many things and I cannot just
single one out. All I can say is that I am living the American dream! I have an
amazing family, career and I continuously amaze myself every day with new
accomplishments…

10. What keeps you motivated everyday…in fitness, career, and overall life?

Wanting to be the best I can possibly be! If I ever get down I stop, take a really
deep breath and remind myself that I only have one life and it’s my responsibility
to make it amazing! That puts me right back on track!

11. Anything else you’d like us to know?

Actually I would like to thank you –Cassey- for this interview, I am flattered. Also, I admire your entrepreneurship and I am happy we met.

Thanks Zeudy for your inspirational words! What a rolemodel…in fitness, business, and creativity.

And now for some fun pics of me wearing Zeudy’s creations…

Pocahontas style.

Decline push ups!!!!

Smiling pushup ;)

HAPPY FITNESS FASHION FRIDAY!

So I’ve been working on this fashion review vid for the LONGEST TIME. After I got my beautiful new 21.5” iMac, the Nikon D5100 DSLR, and a new mic (I know, what a spend fest right!!??) I figured that these electronics would serve as “business tools” and toys, so why not!!! I like all things double whammy style when it comes to buying stuff and doing workouts.

Anyway I’ve been DYING to produce something a lil more creative. Around the same time my friends over at ActivewearUSA asked if I’d be interested in doing some fashion review vids. I was like umm YEAH. Can someone say dream come true!!? It was something I had been thinking of doing for several months now. So I got to pick out an outfit from the clothing label “Margarita” for my CRAZY PARK HIIT WORKOUT video and then I ran it through some of my own fit tests for this fashion review vid.

MARGARITA TOP, $63: I chose a long white tank top that was super durable and gorgeous. Even had a shelf bra inside for support. I wish you could feel the fabric, it is so soft. I liked the criss cross feature in the back. Also comes in black and red.

MARGARITA BOOTY SHORTS, $50: If you guys know me, you know I am a booty short fanatic. But I’ve never tried them in crazy prints before. So I thought the white top would pair well with the floral-y bottoms. I love the side ties for the option of making them even shorter (as if it’s not risque enough to be working out in booty shorts already right!!??) Comes in 3 prints.

Now I just wanna say one thing right here - no specific brands are paying me to say nice things about them in the videos. These are called “reviews” for a reason and I plan to keep them honest, genuine, and above all else REAL. If I do not like something, I’ll say it. And if I like something, you’ll probably see me wearing it in a POP Pilates video.

K, now that that’s out of the way (phew) I also wanted to let you guys know that I started a 3rd channel under the username FashionofFitness. The reason why I did this was to not tarnish the integrity of my other channels. POP Pilates is my 1st channel and it will always be used for uploads of Pilates to pop music! My 2nd channel, BlogilatesTV is meant more for personal vlogs, healthy cooking vids, and workouts from all spectrums of fitness (pilates to HIIT etc) that can be done to your own music. FashionofFitness is strictly for Cassey fashion stuff.

Now that I have rambled for a million years, let’s talk about this vid shall we!!??

I had so much fun editing and filming this video. To date, this is the most elaborate thing I’ve ever made. Much more to learn too. It took a long time to produce but the end product is well worth it I think. It’s not just a regular YouTube fashion haul video…there’s “fit tests” and even a matching workout! Did you have a chance to try the CRAZY PARK HIIT WORKOUT yet?

How’d it go?!! Did you get through all 4x?

One of my FAVORITE tests in the world (that you’ll see in the review vid) is the squat test. Have you girls ever performed a squat in the dressing room before you buy a pair of workout pants? If you haven’t, you may be giving everyone a free show at the gym. Get in front of the mirror right now and squat with booty facing mirror. Does your thong show? ‘Nough said.

Doing a squat in front of your own mirror is MUCH different than squatting in front of a camera. Let’s just say it was awkward for me and camera friend. I feel very lucky that SOMEHOW squatting in booty shorts for an internet vid didn’t end up looking like an amateur porno!? HAHAHAHA.

Alright that’s all for today. Have a GORGEOUS Friday! Sorry for the late post but I wrote something earlier and it didn’t save. UGH.

Oh wait one more thing I lied.

I am having my FoodBuzz 24x24 party tomorrow (24 food bloggers were chosen to host themed food parties all in the same 24 hour stretch on Saturday and we will all be blogging about it on Sunday). My theme is “FRUIT BBQ” where all things meat and barbeque-y will be made from fruit. Imagine banana dogs with strawberry puree ketchup and mango puree mustard and kiwi puree relish. Do you have any ideas for more creative things I could do for hamburgers, tacos, potato salads, and whatever else you have at a bbq? Comment and help me!! About to go to the grocery store to stock up.

K that’s all for real now.

LOVE YOU!!!! Bye!!!

Cassey

Ok so this was the big news I wanted to share with you guys…I’m collaborating with BEBE for exclusive BEBESPORT workouts.
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!?????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Do you UNDERSTAND that I’ve been a fan of this brand for the LONGEST TIME!????
Do you UNDERSTAND that I have their booty shorts in almost every color!!???!?
Do you UNDERSTAND that I probably just died and went to heaven and that my corpse is writing this post??!!???
That is all.
Stay tuned for the exclusive BEBE Bikini Bootcamp printable workout and exercise video next week. Gonna be a fun filled filming sesh this weekend.
K, off to do a 4 miler with the sister and then lots of prep work. I ate some steel cut oats and blueberries for bfast. So yummy. It’s been over 1.5 weeks and I am still going strong as a vegetarian. I love it. I am able to taste my foods so much more and I am feeling lighter even though I have introduced a bit more carbs into my diet than normal. I’m preparing for my 1/2 marathon on September (the Disney Princess Half in LA) so this is why the diet requires more carbs for energy. I am still doing more research into healthy vegetarian meal plans. Will have to do a big kickoff video of this veggie revolution. Big recipe video coming soon!
Ahh so many things on the plate. K sister is yelling at me to get off the comp and run with her.
Toodles!

Can I just say I love this dress to death? I know tuxedo isn’t the mainstream thing right now, but this frock is fantastic. Love the feminine skirt and that little strip of buttons down the front.
“Secluded Exposure” by Lulu in Chains. You can get this for $459, TheGrandSocial.com. Yes YOU can get this. I can’t. At least not right now :(

The Royal Wedding Dress!
Kate Middleton kept us guessing till the last minute, and this morning the world watched as she stepped out in a classic and modern dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. (McQueen committed suicide last year and Burton took his place in May 2010.) Atop her head, Kate adorned a 1936 Cartier tiara borrowed from the queen. Behind her, sister Pippa carries her train.

“The lace appliqué for the gown’s bodice and skirt was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework, based at Hampton Court Palace. Individual flowers were hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create an organic design with rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock motifs.
The skirt was meant to echo an opening flower, and the bodice to draw on the Victorian tradition of corsetry. The train was just short of nine feet long. French Chantilly lace was combined with English Cluny lace to be hand-worked in the Carrickmacross needlework tradition which originated in Ireland in the 1820s. The workers washed their hands every 30 minutes to keep the lace and threads pristine, and the needles were renewed every three hours to keep them sharp and clean.” - LA Times
Already design houses are replicating this look for their own collection! Cheaper versions of this dress with illusion sleeves will be available at Nordstrom beginning in August and will run from $1000-$2500. The fashion world is getting ready for the storm of orders that will come in for tiaras and classic cuts. Oh how princesses can still influence what us adult women want in life…
What do I think of the dress? I knew it would have long sleeves from the beginning. We’ve got be covered but sexy at the same time and I think Kate pulled it off well. I really like the corset bodice and mini collar. I could have gone for a collar perhaps a 1/2” higher for a more regal effect. Love the slim fitting sleeves and simplicity of the gown. See below for closer look:

I don’t know what my wedding dress will look like, not even thinking about it, but sure to have tons of beading, lace, and flowiness. Puffiness? Not sure, but a slim accentuated waist line is a must! I will design it and I guess if you guys are still reading my blog in several years, you’ll see what it looks like! :)
Congrats to Kate and William! And yay for the Royal Wedding Dress reveal!

Fat days and Skinny days (and the clothes we wear)

Yesterday I was having a “fat day” and decided to wear a top that I reserve only for such occasions. For those of you who don’t know what a fat day is, it’s when you feel extra bloated from having a food baby (aka you ate way too much and look preggers), from being on your period, or eating something that simply puffs you up! For me, I’ve been recently overdosing on those high protein egg white pancakes that I blogged about a couple days ago. I’m in love with them. I’ve been having them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Too much whey protein for a semi lactose intolerant person. My body is saying no, no, no…(Christina Aguilera circa Genie in a Bottle anyone!?)

Anyway…I bought this top several months ago, I call it my “fat shirt”, but really it’s a cute fitness top with a bubble hem that is very figure friendly. I think I’ve only worn this top 3 times since I got it because I prefer wearing my tighter tops which allow me to see when I’m bringing my belly button in to my spine during Pilates. I’m not a big fan of the shirt because it makes me lose shape in my waist completely. I only bring it out when I have to. But last night I was surprised to receive several compliments on it even though I wasn’t feeling my best.

Fat days will land on workout days and I want to thank the fitness fashion world for giving us the bubble hem and the baby doll alternative to the slim fitting camis and tanks. Feeling bloated makes it harder to workout physically but looking/feeling bad in your gym clothes makes it THAT much worse. For me, I love dressing up to go to the gym (dress to impress, you never know who you’re gonna meet right?) and no fat day can take me down.

These forgiving tops are also great for people who don’t feel comfortable in tight clothes (maybe you’re on a weight loss journey) but still want to be a stylish exerciser.

Regardless of what you wear to the gym on any given day, I think we can all agree how amazing it feels to be able to wear that one shirt that you reserve for “skinny days” (aka when you look and the mirror and for some reason, you just look leaner and feel stronger! Love skinny days…) I strive to have these good days everyday, so that’s why my fitness closet is expanding a little too rapidly!

Look in the mirror when you have your next fat or skinny day and appreciate everything that your body lets you do. It lets you lift heavier weights. Hold poses longer. Reach a little farther. Sometimes it will react in weird ways to tell you that something you’re doing simply isn’t working. (Like how I need to stop eating these high protein egg white pancakes 3x/day) But in the end, we adjust, get smarter and get stronger. In the adjustment period, be grateful for bubble hems and babydolls. And guess what, no one even cares about your fat day! They can’t even tell! They’ll probably even tell you they like your shirt ;)

So get your butt to the gym and work out as hard as you can, fat or skinny.

Question: Do you guys have your fat days and skinny days? Do you have special clothes that you wear for such occasions?
