McDonald’s Opening “McFarmers Markets” in 1000 Locations
“This morning McDonald’s has announced what could be the most disruptive move in the 60 year history of fast food. Starting in early June, approximately 1000 McDonald’s locations across the country will begin hosting farmer’s markets on their premises.
From McDonald’s press release:
At McDonald’s, we’ve seen a growing trend toward local, fresh food over the last few years. Since many of our establishments are located in close proximity to farms, especially along interstate highways, we thought this can be a win win for everyone. Our loyal customers on summer vacation will now enjoy more fresh and delicious options, including stocking up on fruit and shakes for the roadtrip. Local farmers will now have daily access to hundreds of customers at our heavily trafficked locations. McDonald’s once again is proving its leadership in the quick serve food segment. Read more…”
